Applications will be screened and qualified applicants will be invited to come for interview either in Bangkok (for those coming from Southeast Asia), Beijing for those coming from China) and New Delhi (for those coming from South Asia).

All interview-related expenses will be paid for by ASF.

How are the fellows chosen?
ASIA Fellows are chosen on the basis of how their proposed studies/research projects/activities will contribute towards the achievement of the Foundation’s goals and objectives of advancing Asian Studies in Asia; how they will strengthen their professional capabilities; and what impact their projects will have on Asian Studies in their home country, in particular, and the region, in general.

For the ASIA Fellows Awards, the Foundation’s Board of Directors will choose the ASF Fellows from among the qualified candidates based on the interviews conducted by the ASF Bangkok office and its affiliate offices in Beijing and New Delhi. The Executive Committee of the ASF Board will select the ASF Fellows for the other grant categories.
