How are the grantees notified?
The ASF office in Bangkok will send the award notification letters
to the successful ASIA Fellows candidates. Fellows will be invited
to attend and participate in the orientation program in Bangkok
before the start of their fellowships.
What is the Orientation Program?
During the orientation program, fellows will be briefed on the
administrative and financial procedures, preparations for the
start of their projects, including visa clearance and working
arrangements with host institutions, awards requirements and other
administrative issues related to the fellowship. They will also
be given the opportunities to start their bonding and networking
with each other through group sessions and discussions.
The orientation program is held end-on to the annual ASF conference.
What are the “Host Institutions”?
ASIA Fellows are placed in host institutions that are located
in any of the participating countries while undertaking their
research projects/studies/activities. It is advisable to identify
a host institution and to secure a letter of invitation at the
time an ASIA Fellows application is submitted.
What is the annual ASIA Fellows’ conference?
Results of the ASIA Fellows’ studies/research projects are
presented at an Annual Fellows’ Conference. Held in Bangkok
immediately after the orientation for the new cohort grantees,
it is an occasion for the latter to benefit from the experience-sharing
on the completed research projects of the earlier group and to
start their networking with other ASF Fellows.
All expenses incurred by the fellows in attending the orientation
program and the annual conference are shouldered by ASF.
What is expected of an ASF Grantee?
ASIA Fellows Awardees are expected to prepare a mid-term
progress report and a full report at the end of the study/research
period. An abridged version of the paper is presented at the annual
ASIA Fellows’ Conference.
